The case is quite spectacular. The first sight of this clock will takeyour breath away. It was made by Jacob Moss who worked in Philadelphiaand (http://maplered.com) Trenton from 1780-1790. It has flame finials which have been repaired or havebeen replaced. It has a tombStone (http://g603.net) door with a mold edge and (http://maplered.com) a shapedbrass escutcheon. The tombStone (http://g603.net) door is in a highly figured crotchgrained mahogany. It has an absolutely wonderful applied carved figuredmahogany panel in the bottom section. The Ogee or bracket base feet arenicely carved and (http://maplered.com) quite spectacular they have had some old repair.There are so many other small refined and (http://maplered.com) hidden details on this clock.Like the very unusual fluted design in the quarter columns of the waistand (http://maplered.com) nice outside dovetail which is fine and (http://maplered.com) elegant. Now on to theclock works: It has an exceptional brass dial with a rare center secondhand (http://maplered.com) sweep. The brass dial has elegant foliate spand (http://maplered.com) rels. The moon faceis reserved and (http://maplered.com) elegant the art work is very well done. There is aplaque on the dial which reads Jacob Moss Trenton. It is completewith two weights - the pendulum and (http://maplered.com) the key. It has an eight dayrunning duration. My Scottish master clock maker Mr. Young of Belfast,Maine has overhauled this clock taken a good look at it and (http://maplered.com) he hasgiven it a good bill of health.
